Hormone Hijackers: Hidden in Plain Sight
What if the things we use every day are affecting our hormones and we don’t even know it?
The plastic we heat our food in. The products in our bathroom. Our cookware. The food we buy. Even some of the beauty products we grew up using without ever thinking twice about the ingredients.
For Black women & BIPOC communities, this conversation hits differently.
More than 80% of Black women will develop uterine fibroids by age 50. (Obstetrics & Gynecology) And in one study of just 18 hair products used by Black women, researchers found 45 chemicals associated with endocrine disruption or asthma. Children’s relaxers in that study contained five chemicals that were regulated under California Proposition 65 or prohibited in European cosmetics. (PubMed)
And this is not just a "Woman problem". Endocrine-disrupting chemicals also affect babies, children, teens, and men, too
That’s why we’re having this conversation.
Hormone Hijackers: Hidden in Plain Sight is a hands-on workshop where we’re going to pull back the curtain on the everyday products we bring into our homes and put on our bodies.
We’ll talk about BPA and plastics, pesticides, phthalates, parabens, household products, cookware, beauty products, and other endocrine disruptors, including what the research says about how these exposures can interfere with reproductive health, thyroid function, metabolism, development, fertility, and other hormone-regulated processes in both women and men.
